Myrle Schwalm

H. Myrle Schwalm came to NMSU from his hometown of Belen, NM, in 1980. 1984 was a big year for him as he graduated from NMSU with a Bachelor of Accountancy, married, and passed the CPA exam. He started his public accounting career with Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). After three years with E&W, he returned to NMSU and earned his Master of Accountancy in 1988. He then went to work with Coopers & Lybrand (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers). He reached the level of Tax Manager with C&L before leaving to start his own practice in Las Cruces in 1990. Since 1990, he has kept busy with his public accounting practice, served on several non-profit boards and church committees as well as helped coach his two daughters in T Ball, Soccer, and Golf. Through the years, he has also taught accounting principles for the NMSU Accounting Department and the beginning accounting class for the HRTM School. His wife, Jeanie, is an educational diagnostician at Las Cruces Public Schools. His oldest daughter, Carissa, just graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University in Denver, and his youngest daughter, Emily, earned her Bachelor of Accountancy from New Mexico State University, a Law Degree from the University of New Mexico, and is currently practicing Law in Las Cruces, NM. Myrle joined Beasley, Mitchell & Co. as a partner in 2024.
